SBDC Director - Sophie Konuwa
Expertise:
Sophie Konuwa is an instructor and trainer
for Butte College's Small Business Management classes and
SBDC workshops. As a business counselor since 1993, Sophie
provides counseling in financial analysis, loan assistance,
business plan preparation, business management, marketing
and international trade.
Background:
Konuwa developed, organized, implemented,
and managed the international trade program for the Butte
College SBDC for three years. In 1997, she wrote the grant
for the Butte College Center for International Trade Development,
which was approved and is now established as a regional center
located in Chico, California. In a previous position as assistant
and analyst for debt service and fiscal policy in West Africa,
Konuwa provided financial analytical services for monetary
and fiscal policies at the Ministry of Finance in Monrovia,
Liberia. She also worked with analysts from international
organizations including the International Monetary Fund, the
World Bank, the African Development Bank and analysts from
foreign governments throughout the world. She holds a bachelor's
degree in banking and finance from Appalachian State University
in North Carolina and a master's degree in management from
Cardinal Stritch University in Wisconsin.
